Day One of The Fresh Life kicked off in full swing under the sunny skies of Byron Bay! Guests arrived with warm cups of coffee in hand, and smiles on their faces, ready to dive into a day filled with education, networking, and training. From the get-go, the day was set up for an unforgettable start, with a warm welcome from the 'Johns' and a buzzing crowd that set the tone for the aesthetics event of the year.
As we moved into the morning sessions, Group A took their seats at the Woodlands Stage, where Dr Phoebe Jones from Galderma opened with a live demo on Rethinking Lip and Peri-Oral Anatomy. Dr Jones captivated the crowd with her innovative injecting techniques, illustrating how small refinements in lip and peri-oral shaping can create undetectable yet natural enhancements. With Gen Z’s preference for more subtle aesthetics on the rise, her talk on the “anti-filler trend” resonated with many and opened up exciting new ways to think about lip treatments.
Next, Dr Stephen Lowe introduced an innovative approach — using Toxin to reduce pore size and sebum production. It was a fresh perspective that empowered attendees to consider ways to set themselves apart with unexpected and effective techniques.
Then, all the way from the UK, expert Freya Carlson shared her insights into how glycerol directly stimulates collagen production in the skin. She highlighted the incredible impact of Belotero Revive, a skin booster designed to rejuvenate and hydrate deeply, giving patients that youthful, radiant glow.
Up next and joining us from Texas was Ryan Bourgeois. Ryan covered advanced techniques in facial rejuvenation, focusing on a blend of injectables and alternative treatments to achieve natural, revitalised results. He used off-label techniques new to Australia, highlighting them as alternatives to HA fillers for patients seeking full-face rejuvenation through stimulation, hydration, and tissue regeneration. He also spoke about his first encounter with a kangaroo here in Australia!
After a delicious lunch and networking with sponsors and KOL's, Dr Felix Li took to the Woodlands Stage to talk on 'Individuality Around the World.' Dr Li’s philosophy centres on helping patients “age better,” focusing on facial harmony and individualised beauty over standard ideals.
Using a case study of a 51-year-old woman, he demonstrated how a gentle enhancement restored her youthful energy without altering her natural expressions, resulting in a refreshed appearance that felt authentic to her.
The International KOL Trifecta from Evolus then arrived to chat all things Nuceiva. Anita East, Brooke Carrero, and Sharon Bennett's session highlighted compelling case studies that showcased the speed of Nuceiva’s onset, particularly in treating glabella lines. With effects lasting up to four months, case studies showed that patients often saw an improvement of one grade or more on the glabella severity scale—driving high satisfaction levels and strong patient loyalty. The safety profile also stood out, with no serious drug-related adverse events reported, boosting confidence in its use.
Following Evolus, Dr Lucas Siqueria took to the stage to unveil the latest innovation in lip enhancements, using STYLAGE. Dr Lucas dove straight into the trends in lip augmentation, the trends forecasted for coming years, and the techniques that are currently desired from the patient for the perfect pout.
Over in The Fresh Lounge, one of our most anticipated topics - 'Addressing Symptoms, Skin Health & Beyond for the Perimenopausal and Menopausal Patient,' was presented by Chiza Westcarr. Chiza spoke to a real-life case study and patient of hers, and the importance of skin health, nutrition, and treatment options for those going through menopause.
The afternoon sessions continued with Dr Frank Lin's presentation and real-life case studies utilising Ultherapy. The results from these treatments were outstanding, and a great way to offer non-invasive skin tightening to patients who aren't ready for injectables.
The Woodlands Stage was then joined by Dr Jane Lucas, who took a new approach to treating the entire lower face in patients, and not just the lips. She explored beauty standards and trends over the last 100 years and how they have shaped the aesthetics industry today.
At the same time, Bronwyn and Elena from AMET were in The Fresh Lounge, sharing insights into Hyaluronidase Science, its use in aesthetics, and real data from patient and practitioner surveys from 2021-2024. They simplified the science to promote confidence in using Hyaluronidase in clinic, as well as treating complex intra-oral VOs.
The final sessions of Day 1 were 'Mastering Rejuran' with Dr Jing Wang, and 'Building a Skincare Revenue Stream,' with Dr Kristy Kostalas, Mala McAlphin, and Rochelle Akhavan. Dr Jing introduced the brand new, innovative Rejuran 'Dot' technique and explored a multi-modality approach to utilising Polynucleotides. At the same time, Fresh Lounge attendees enjoyed learning about key tips and techniques for building revenue from skincare in a clinic from our talented Skin Panel.
Day 1 wrapped up with a poolside welcome event hosted by Galderma. This was the perfect opportunity to wind down from an exciting day and connect with sponsors, speakers, and other attendees.
